Welcome to the twelfth issue of “Fenice Scuol@Europa News”. Our newsletter addresses anyone who is interested in European Projects, but in particular those people who are interested in the themes these projects deal with.
This issue describes the projects FENICE is involved in as a promoter or partner and the products developed by transnational partnerships, with the support of the European Commission, within the framework of the Lifelong Learning Programme.
We hope that this issue will help to promote these results, materials and methods to a wider audience, and it will encourage the exchange of ideas and experiences as well.
First we would like to tell you who we are in the hope that we may start a productive collaboration.
Our association Federazione Nazionale Insegnanti Centro di iniziativa per l’Europa aims at improving the professional characteristics of teachers and the standards of state schools and at enhancing democratic reforms. The association tackles the political, social and cultural problems connected to the school world, the teaching job and the professional growth of teachers.
FENICE publishes also a paper magazine called Scuol@Europa issued only in its Italian version. The newsletter is published, instead, in three languages and sent three times a year as an html-formatted e-mail, displaying news in short with links to the FENICE website and to the relating project websites, where full access to the relevant articles or documents is provided. § “Be My Guest: Russian for European Hospitality” (Key Activity 2 Languages 2.1)
In preparation the Guideline book
More than 40 foreign language teachers in the four countries of the partnership (BG, IT, RO e TR), after coming in touch with the “Broad Sweeps of Imagination” method (BSI) during special training courses held in their countries, developed and adapted it to their educational environment. Now, with the beginning of a new school year, they started testing the method for the second time with their pupils. Furthermore they produced several examples of good practices that will be inserted in a Guideline book of BSI Method for Foreign Language Teachers. The book will describe the basic principles of the BSI method, will give information for resources which teachers in different foreign languages could use in their work based on the BSI method and will include experiences coming from the transnational cooperation carried out within this project.
The method combines different approaches and techniques for learning new information and for foreign language teaching that, combined in an integrated set, has proven its effectiveness for the rapid building of the learners’ communicative skills. The BSI method combines visual elements ('clumsy pictures') and approaches based on active participation that give learners the opportunity to harmonize their previous learning with the recent one.
The
partnership is developing also an e-platform that will serve as a
resource centre for foreign language teachers who will adopt the BSI method
in their work as well as for exchange of information between the
trainers and trainees.
This project wants also to prepare, test-implement and refine a Teacher Training Course for in-service teachers in foreign languages which (after completing the project) will be placed in the Comenius Catalogue. The Teacher Training Course will be based on the BSI method and will be addressed to teachers of any Foreign Language.

" Be My Guest: Russian for European Hospitality”
Developing the learning content of the course of Russian
This project is dedicated to the development of a web-based online course of Russian for beginners working in the hospitality sector.
The partners of the project outlined the course, whose basic aim is to enable the learner to communicate effectively in Russian within a short period of time, using a relatively small amount of the language in specific communicative situations. The partners are developing the language content using Moodle platform. The course will consist of 4 sections: Learning Russian containing learning units with language patterns and exercises; Grammar Reference with a short presentation of some main issues of the Russian grammar relevant for A level language learners; an online Dictionary containing up to 1300 lexical units and a Test Yourself section giving the learners an opportunity to assess their progress. Currently the partners are creating the learning units and the grammar section.
The partners expect to launch the course in a year time. The advantages of the course are: the learners will be able to learn the really spoken Russian; they will do it according to their own learning pace; besides, they will be given the opportunity to choose between English, Italian, Spanish or Bulgarian to access the learning zone.

CELCIT - " Competences in e-Learning and Certification In Tourism”
The course for training a “Local Tourist development Agent” (ALT) is about to be completed. The institutions of four countries (Italy, Lithuania, Romania and Spain), with the coordination of Fenice, inserted the contents of the e-learning course (in English) on the web platform Docebo, hosted in the FENICE web site. After the completion of the various assessment tests and the linguistic control, next month the testing of the course will start. At the end of the project the partners having the suitable structures will organise the courses in their countries and will guarantee the tutorship during the course.
The course for training a “Tourist Development Agent” is addressed to people equipped with requirements at level 2 of the “Descriptors defining levels in the European Qualifications Framework” and knowing English at intermediate level, and having some knowledge of economics, geography, basic tourism concepts and information technology.
The project aims at developing the European dimension of the trainees’ training and at reducing the gap between school education and labour market, in particular in the tourist sector.
This project places itself in a larger framework of FENICE’s initiatives with the aim at creating a permanent network of different bodies (especially in Eastern Europe) able to create a Portal for the training in e-learning modality of new vocational figures in the tourist field.

To teach French as a foreign language using theatrical techniques
An in-service training course within Comenius programme
From November 3 to November 8, 2008, 22 teachers and trainers, selected by the National LLP Agencies of five countries will attend a Comenius in-service training organized by FENICE in order to spread a new methodology in teaching-learning French as a foreign language.
The workshop aims at proposing an alternative method in the teaching of French as a foreign language using theatrical techniques, widely used in other fields in order to obtain active participation by the students with the use of learning strategies excluded from current practice. In brief, experimenting innovating techniques which may help improve teaching and have a positive influence on learning.
The workshop is called “Formation aux techniques théâtrales à l’usage des enseignants de FLE” and will be held in the University of Bucharest Faculty of Foreign languages French Department . During the workshop we will use the products of a previous Lingua 2 project called «Le Français par les techniques théâtrales». The innovative aspects of this project consist in the fact that all the activities proposed in the teaching units consider the pupil as a person endowed with a body, a voice and an inner world. En préparation le Guide à la méthode BSI
Plus de 40 enseignants de langues étrangères des quatre pays partenaires (BG, IT, RO e TR), après avoir appris la méthode “Broad Sweeps of Imagination” (BSI) (Vaste éventail d’ imagination) grâce aux cours de formation tenus dans les différents pays, ont développé et adapté la méthode à leurs exigences didactiques et, commençant la nouvelle année scolaire, ils ont promu une deuxième expérience en l’ utilisant dans leurs classes. Ils ont même élaboré plusieurs exemples d’applications à insérer dans le Guide du professeur.
Dans ce Guide en ligne les professeurs pourront repérer les éléments de base de la méthode, du matériel didactique à utiliser dans leur travail (basé sur la méthode BSI) et pourront partager les résultats de leurs expériences, réalisées grâce à la collaboration internationale.
La méthode BSI combine différents éléments et techniques d'apprentissage et d'enseignement de la langue étrangère à l’intérieur de l’approche communicative, une approche toujours très efficace pour une plus rapide construction des habiletés communicatives chez les étudiants. Cette méthode, à l’aide d’éléments visuels spécifiques ('clumsy pictures') et de certaines approches, donne l'opportunité aux étudiants d'harmoniser les nouvelles connaissances avec celles déjà acquises.
Les partenaires sont en train de développer aussi une plate-forme web qui fournira des conseils, des opinions, du matériel et finalement les «feedbacks» sur la validité et l'applicabilité de la méthode dans le but de la diffuser le plus largement possible et de créer un «réseau» de professeurs (de langues étrangères).
Ce projet se propose de préparer et de vérifier, à travers une large expérience, un cours de formation pour des enseignants de langue étrangère avec le but de montrer l'efficacité de la méthode et de la perfectionner afin de la répandre dans un plus vaste contexte européen. Le cours sera aussitôt inséré dans le Catalogue Comenius et donc proposé comme une opportunité, offerte à tous les professeurs européens de langues étrangères, d’acquérir de nouvelles compétences dans le domaine de l’enseignement-apprentissage de la langue étrangère.

En préparation un cours de formation de langue russe
Il s’agit d’un projet à développer : un cours de formation en ligne de la langue russe pour débutants et adressé au personnel employé dans le secteur du tourisme et à ceux qui ont l’intérêt d’établir des relations d’affaires avec des parlant la langue russe.
Les partenaires de Bulgarie, d'Italie, de Malta et d'Espagne ont projeté en grandes lignes ce cours, dont l’objectif est de mettre l’apprenant en condition de vraiment communiquer en langue russe et en peu de temps, en utilisant le lexique des situations communicatives visées. Les partenaires sont en train d’insérer le contenu du cours dans la plateforme web Moodle. Le cours comprendra quatre sections: Apprendre le Russe, contenant des unités didactiques avec méthode d’apprentissage et exercice d’application; Grammaire de référence, précédée de la présentation synthétique de quelques particularités de la grammaire russe, fondamentales pour débutants; un Dictionnaire online contenant environ1300 lexèmes et une Section réservée à l’auto évaluation qui mettra les apprenants en condition de vérifier leurs progrès. A l’instant, les partenaires en sont à la création des unités didactiques et à la section de grammaire.
La présentation du cours est prévue d’ici un an. Grâce à ce cours, les élèves seront en mesure d’apprendre la vraie langue russe parlée et cela, selon leur propre rythme d’apprentissage. Enfin, ils pourront accéder au cour en choisissant une des langues suivantes : Anglais, Italien, Espagnol et Bulgare.

CELCIT - " Compétences en e-Apprentissage et Certification en Tourisme”
En préparation un cours de formation professionnelle
Le cours de formation de «Agent pour le développement Touristique Local» (ALT) est presque complet. Les partenaires de quatre pays (Italie, Lituanie, Roumanie et Espagne), coordonnés par Fenice, ont inséré les contenus des modules (en anglais) dans la plateforme web Docebo à laquelle on peut accéder à travers le contact suivant http://www.fenice-eu.org
Dès que les tests de contrôle et la révision stylistiques seront terminés, les partenaires entreront dans la phase d’application expérimentale du cours, avec tutoring relatif. Cela, dans le mois de novembre prochain. Cette phase terminée, les partenaires, grâce à la structure appropriée, pourront fournir ces cours dans leurs pays, tout en assurant le tutoring pendant les cours.
Le cours de formation de ALT vise des destinataires possédant le niveau 2 des “Descripteurs des niveaux dans le Cadre Européenne des Qualifications”, et une connaissance de la langue anglaise, niveau «Intermediate», ainsi que les connaissances de base du domaine économique, géographique, touristique et informatique.
Ce projet entend développer la dimension européenne de la formation des formateurs et faciliter les liens entre formation scolaire et monde du travail, surtout dans le domaine touristique.
Le projet fait partie d’une série d’initiatives de la Fenice (parmi lesquels deux projets concernant la mobilité) visées à la création d’un réseau permanent d’institutions dans les différents pays de l’Europe (en particulier les pays de l’est) pour créer un Portail pour la formation en e-apprentissage de nouvelles figures professionnelles dans le secteur touristique.

« Formation aux techniques théâtrales à l’usage des enseignants de FLE »
un atelier de formation continue dans le cadre du programme Comenius
Du 3 au 8 Novembre 2008 22 enseignants et formateurs, sélectionnés par lea Agences Nationales de cinq différents pays participeront à un cours Comenius de formation continue organisé par FENICE dans le domaine de l’expérimentation et de la diffusion des techniques didactiques innovantes, visées à l’amélioration des systèmes d’instruction et des procès d’apprentissage des élèves, e dédié à la diffusion des nouvelles approches didactiques du français langue étrangère, notamment de l’utilisation des techniques théâtrales en classe de FLE.
Le cours, dont le titre est : “Formation aux techniques théâtrales à l’usage des enseignants de FLE”, utilisera les produits du projet Socrates Lingua 2 «Le Français par les techniques théâtrales» déjà réalisé. L’innovation de ce projet reste le fait que toute activité proposée considèrent l’apprenant un individu dans sa totalité, doué d’un corps, d’une voix et d’un monde intérieur. In preparazione la Guida al Metodo BSI
Oltre 40 docenti di lingue straniere dei quattro paesi partner (BG, IT, RO e TR), dopo aver appreso il metodo “Broad Sweeps of Imagination” (BSI) in appositi corsi di formazione svoltisi nei vari paesi, lo hanno sviluppato ed adattato alle loro realtà e, con l’inizio del nuovo anno, hanno iniziato una seconda sperimentazione dello stesso metodo nelle loro classi ed elaborato vari esempi di buone prassi da inserire in una Guida per docenti. Essa conterrà i principi di base del metodo BSI, informazioni sulle risorse da utilizzare nell’applicazione dello stesso e dalle esperienze che scaturiranno dalla collaborazione internazionale realizzata nel quadro del presente progetto.
Il metodo combina diversi approcci e tecniche di apprendimento e di insegnamento di una lingua straniera che hanno dimostrato la loro efficacia per una rapida costruzione di abilità comunicative degli studenti. Il metodo BSI mette insieme elementi visivi ('clumsy pictures') ed approcci che danno l’opportunità di armonizzare le nuove conoscenze con quelle già acquisite.
Il partenariato sta sviluppando anche una piattaforma web che fornirà consigli, scambi di opinioni, materiali e raccoglierà i feedback sulla trasferibilità e l’applicabilità del metodo con l’obiettivo della diffusione a cascata del metodo e della creazione di una rete di docenti di lingue straniere.
Il progetto si propone di preparare, verificare attraverso una sperimentazione e quindi perfezionare un modello di corso di formazione in servizio rivolto ad insegnanti di lingua straniera con lo scopo di dimostrare l’efficacia del metodo. Il corso verrà successivamente inserito nel Catalogo Comenius e quindi offerto come una opportunità di acquisizione di nuove competenze per docenti di lingue straniere in tutta Europa

In preparazione il corso online di Russo
Lo scopo di questo progetto è lo sviluppo di un corso on-line di Russo per principianti rivolto al personale che lavora nel settore turistico ed a coloro che devono stabilire contatti d’affari con persone parlanti russo.
I partner di quattro paesi (Bulgaria, Italia, Malta e Spagna) hanno progettato le linee essenziali del corso, il cui obiettivo consiste nel mettere in grado l’allievo di comunicare realmente in Russo dopo un breve periodo, utilizzando un vocabolario limitato per specifiche situazioni comunicative. I partner stanno inserendo i contenuti del corso nella piattaforma web Moodle. Il corso comprenderà quattro sezioni: Apprendere il Russo contenente unità di apprendimento con schemi linguistici ed esercizi; Grammatica di riferimento con una breve presentazione di alcuni aspetti principali della grammatica russa importanti per principianti; un Dizionario online contenente circa 1300 unità lessicali ed una Sezione di autovalutazione che permetterà agli allievi di verificare i loro progressi. Al momento i partner stanno creando le unità di apprendimento e la sezione grammaticale.
E’ previsto il lancio del corso entro un anno. I vantaggi di questo corso consistono nel fatto che gli allievi non solo saranno in grado di apprendere la lingua russa veramente parlata, ma lo faranno secondo i loro ritmi di apprendimento; infine essi avranno l’opportunità di accedere al corso scegliendo una delle seguenti lingue: Inglese, Italiano, Spagnolo e Bulgaro.

In fase di ultimazione il corso di formazione professionale
E’ quasi ultimato il corso di formazione di “Agente per lo sviluppo Locale del Turismo” (ALT) I partner di quattro paesi (Italia, Lituania, Romania e Spagna), coordinati dalla Fenice, hanno inserito nella piattaforma di e-learning Docebo, ospitata nel sito della Fenice, i contenuti dei vari moduli. Terminata la elaborazione dei vari test di verifica ed effettuato il controllo linguistico, il partenariato entro il prossimo mese di Novembre, inizierà la fase di sperimentazione del corso con relativo tutoraggio. Al termine della fase di sperimentazione, i partner dotati della struttura adeguata erogheranno nei rispettivi paesi il corso assicurandone il tutoraggio.
Il corso di formazione del suddetto Agente è rivolto a persone dotate di requisiti al livello 2 dei “Descrittori dei livelli nel Quadro Europeo delle Qualifiche”, di una conoscenza della lingua inglese al livello “Intermediate” e di conoscenze di base nel campo dell’economia, della geografia, del turismo e dell’informatica.
Il progetto si propone di sviluppare la dimensione europea nella formazione dei formatori e di promuovere l'avvicinamento della formazione scolastica al mondo del lavoro specificatamente nel settore turistico. Esso si colloca in un più ampio quadro di iniziative intraprese dalla Fenice (tra le quali due progetti di mobilità) tendenti alla realizzazione di una rete permanente di istituzioni di vari paesi (in particolare dell’Est Europeo) al fine di realizzare un Portale per la formazione in modalità e-learning di nuove figure professionali nel settore turistico.

Apprendere il francese come lingua straniera con l’aiuto di tecniche teatrali
Un corso Comenius di formazione in servizio
Dal 3 all’8 Novembre 2008 22 docenti e formatori, selezionati dalle Agenzie Nazionali di cinque diversi paesi parteciperanno ad un corso Comenius di formazione in servizio organizzato dalla FENICE e dedicato alla diffusione di un diverso approccio alla didattica del francese come lingua straniera, basato sull’uso di tecniche teatrali nell’insegnamento/apprendimento.
Il corso, dal titolo “Formation aux techniques théâtrales à l’usage des enseignants de FLE” utilizzerà i materiali prodotti nell’ambito del progetto Socrates Lingua 2, denominato «Le Français par les techniques théâtrales» e si svolgerà nella Facoltà di Lingue e Letterature Straniere Dipartimento di francese dell’Università di Bucarest L’obiettivo principale è il coinvolgimento del soggetto attraverso l’interazione della ragione e del sentimento nel percorso cognitivo, facendo ricorso a tecniche teatrali.
