Project Newsletter Issue # 2 – September 2012

Editorial

‘Creativity in language learning' is a project co-funded by the European Commission within the Lifelong Learning Programme. It aims at bringing out the importance of the intercultural and creative dimensions in language learning and at the same time at promoting and encouraging linguistic and cultural diversity. The CREALLE project has the following mission: first collecting and defining a series of methodological tools which may show how effective creativity is in the process of learning both for junior and adult learners; second, making these tools known to the greatest number of language teachers and trainers.

The project target groups are school teachers (foreign language teachers in particular), teacher trainers, adult educators, life-long learning providers; school principals, students, etc., as well as decision-makers from different levels of the educational systems in the European countries.

We hope that this issue will help to promote the project’s results, materials and methods to a wider audience, and it will encourage the exchange of ideas and experiences as well.

International Conference and Projects Fair in Brussels, 15-16 November 2012

The Conference and the related Projects Fair will give an opportunity to the educational projects chosen to be disseminated in an international context. It is important to underline that the participants, coming from different countries, will demonstrate how creative approaches can work effectively in language learning and thus how creativity is absolutely pivotal and consistent with the aims of multilingualism.

The conference

  • will offer presentations and workshops of the best creative practices in language teaching/learning;
  • will provide an international platform for planning future practical steps for the dissemination of these practices and for addressing stakeholders and representatives of the project target groups from the European countries;
  • will gather project coordinators of EU funded and non-funded projects for a mutual exchange of expertise and innovative methodologies in language teaching/learning;
  • will host the interventions of two officers from the European Commission and EACEA (Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency) who will provide participants with interesting insights into the experience of the Lifelong Learning Programme in support of creative learning and into the role of multilingualism in the new political framework;
  • will give participants the possibility of networking with experts in creative language learning from many European countries.

The Conference Agenda and the Registration form are on the website www.languagelearning.eu in the “What’s on” page. All those who are interested are kindly requested to express their interest in taking part in the Conference by downloading and filling in the Registration form, and sending it by e-mail as soon as possible, but not later than September 30, 2012.
